Development and Messaging Volunteers

  • Tasks: Collaborate with the President and Logistics Coordinator to build plans for development and funding for the ongoing initiatives of On Wings Like A Dove
  • Time Commitment: Flexible
  • Notes: Previous development experience and familiarity with faith-based non-profit structures are prerequisites
  • Tasks: In collaboration with the President and Logistics Coordinator, design and update web site and pages, develop schedules and content for social media platforms, assist with effective messaging plan and content for the initiatives of On Wings Like A Dove
  • Time Commitment: Flexible
  • Notes: Previous experience with WordPress website design and multiple social media platform engagement are prerequisites
  • Tasks: Research to identify potential grant funding sources in the private and faith-based foundation community
  • Time Commitment: Flexible
  • Notes: Previous experience and success in grant research and application are prerequisites

Community Volunteers

  • Tasks: Gather, sort, and pack items into Treasure Boxes, prepare boxes for events and distribution
  • Time Commitment: Flexible and at various times throughout the year
  • Notes: Coordinate with Treasure Box Coordinator; this is a great activity for a team or small group event
  • Tasks: Lead an existing group or start a new group; this is a community outreach to families of prodigals and prisoners
  • Time Commitment: weekly, on a regular schedule
  • Notes: Each fall, we have a Prayer Kickoff Celebration; all our Bible Study groups are encouraged to attend
  • Tasks: Need truck or trailer and strong backs for large item pickup
  • Time Commitment: Varied, can be scheduled at Volunteer convenience
  • Notes: Coordinate with On Wings Like A Dove staff; this is great outing for a small group

Prayer Volunteers

  • Tasks: Pray as prompted and pray in response to prayer requests emailed periodically by our staff
  • Time Commitment: Flexible
  • Notes: Each fall, we have a Prayer Kickoff Celebration; all Prayer Partners are encouraged to attend and invite others to join them for the evening. Also, we have inmate prayer requests and monthly staff prayer points consistently posted in our Prayer Room; we would love for small groups to come to the Prayer Room for concentrated times of prayer
  • Tasks: Lead an existing group or start a new group; this is an outreach to the families of prodigals and prisoners; also a great opportunity for a small group ministry activity
  • Time Commitment: Weekly, on a regular schedule
  • Notes: Each fall, we have a Prayer Kickoff Celebration; all Prayer Partners are encouraged to attend. Also, we have inmate prayer requests and monthly staff prayer points consistently posted in our Prayer Room; we would love for small groups to come to the Prayer Room for concentrated times of prayer

Inmate Communications Volunteers

  • Tasks: Correspond with Inmates who are working on a Bible Correspondence Course. Each course is a chapter by chapter study through a book in the Bible. As a Mentor, you will discuss the inmate’s answers to the quizzes at the end of each lesson in the study. Your correspondence and discussion of the Bible is a Gospel-rich opportunity to share Jesus in your ongoing conversations
  • Time Commitment: Flexible, but requires response to inmate’s correspondence in a timely manner
  • Notes: This is a rich opportunity to connect one on one, through the mail, with someone who is either searching for Jesus through the scriptures or is seeking to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
  • Tasks: Engage in friendly, consistent, Gospel-centered conversation with an inmate who has requested a Pen Pal
  • Time Commitment: Flexible, but requires response to inmate’s correspondence in a timely manner
  • Notes: This is a rich opportunity to connect one on one, through the mail, with someone who may be searching for hope from within the prison walls, or is seeking to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
